about margo siegel

Grew up with a kitten named Halloween by my side, (lived to be 21) few years later we rescued a black lab/mutt puppy named Jesse who really shaped and taught me a lot about life, in general. my mom rescued her a sister named Hannah shortly after, they were best pals for 15+ years!

Needless to say, caring for animals is in my blood. I strive to be tuned-in to their ever changing needs and will find ways to be around them as much as possible. I currently have a solo kitty i rescued back in 2015 named keek, who is special in her very own ways, and she will tell you, in detail!!!

We are professional pet care providers who have many years of pet care experience ranging from puppies through senior pets.

Some of your fur babies may require more in depth observation. Such as “paw”spice level care, overall softer love, more talking to, lifting to go outside, special needs, hand feeding, etc..

We are NOT afraid to get dirty, covered in slobbered, pooped/puked on, i mean it’s not ideal but we get it! As long as your pet is content, and there are more good days than bad, then what more could you ask for?

Aimee Burns and Jake Carey founded Play Paws, LLC in April 2014. They worked together at another Richmond-based pet sitting company for about a year before they decided to start their own company.

Aimee and Jake were married in June 2016. :)

Aimee has been in the pet sitting business since 2011, and has worked for pet sitting companies in Northern Virginia and Richmond before founding Play Paws. She is a graduate of James Madison University with a Bachelors in English. Aimee grew up all over the world as a Navy brat, and moved to Richmond in 2012.

She is pictured here with her dog, Vivian.

In her spare time, Aimee enjoys playing roller derby, climbing, and baking.

Jake worked for a Richmond pet sitting company in 2013 before founding Play Paws with Aimee. He is also a graduate of James Madison University with a Bachelors in Physics, and recently earned his Masters in Computer Science at VCU.

Jake is a native of Richmond, and in his spare time he enjoys cycling, reading, rollerblading and video games.
